B2B (business-to-business) marketing is any marketing strategy that is targeted towards a business or organisation. A company that sells products or services to companies will use B2B marketing to build their business.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

SEO or search engine optimisation is the strategy of increasing the amount of organic traffic from search engines.

Google has over 200 ranking factors when looking at websites. The most important are quality of content, amount of backlinks, website speed, and if a website is secure (using an SSL).

SERP stands for search engine result page. They are the pages displayed by a search engine in response to a inquiry by a user.

A backlink is another website which has included a web link which directs back to your website.

Outbound links are links that you have put on your website that lead to another website.

There are so many SEO software to choose from. The best is SEO Ranking as it is cheap and gives you up-to-date data on the keywords you want to rank for.

On-page SEO is the tactic of optimising single pages on a website in order to rank higher and gain more relevant traffic on search engines.

Off-page SEO is increasing your rankings by using tactics that happen off your website. For example, link building, influencer marketing, and ads.

Digital Marketing Questions

Digital marketing is all the marketing efforts that use the internet or an electronic device. Businesses use channels like social media, emails, and search engines to connect with target markets.

There are lots of tools used in digital marketing. Here are some to start with; Google Analytics, SE Ranking, Google Keyword Planner, and SEMRush.

The main benefit of digital marketing is that you can reach target audiences that you couldn’t have reached otherwise, in a cost-effective way.

Some digital marketing examples are:

  • SEO ( Search Engine Optimisation
  • Content Marketing
  • Marketing Automation
  • PPC (Cost-Per-Click)
  • Email Marketing
  • Online PR
  • Social Media Marketing

A UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) link is essentially parameters on a URL that lets you track exactly where website traffic is coming from.

Content Marketing Questions

Content marketing is a digital marketing approach that focuses on generating high-quality content, consistently, to attract and retain a target market and drive someone to take a certain action.

Some examples of content marketing are:

  • Videos
  • Blog Posts
  • Case Studies
  • Newsletters
  • Ebooks
  • Webinars
  • Podcasts

B2B companies need content marketing because it plays a big role in getting a lead through the sales funnel. It helps with building brand awareness, converting a lead and nurturing current clients.

The cost of content marketing has a few factors – experience, type, length, frequency – the list goes on.

You could be looking at a number as small as $300 per blog post up to $50,000 per month for the development and execution of a content marketing strategy.

It depends on what your business needs are, your budget and how good the agency or freelancer is.

Yes! While it can take 6-12 months to start building momentum it does start to bring a lot of traffic. In fact, it should overtake the amountof traffic your paid channels bring in.

The best way to increase brand presence with content marketing is to constantly create high-quality content pieces and promote them through social network channels. For B2B companies, try using LinkedIn as your main channel for getting content out.

Social Media Marketing Questions

Social media is a website or platform that allows users to share content and network with other users.

In the early 2000s, Youtube, LinkedIn, and Myspace were created which added depth to the social media experience we know today.

But it wasn’t until Facebook was invented, in 2004, that social media started to gain some legs. From a campus connection platform to over 2 billion users, Facebook paved the way and was the start of the social media ‘boom’ we are experiencing today.

It first started as users connecting with their friends and sharing images but in 2007 fan pages and Facebook ads were launched and changed the game for businesses.

The best social media platform for b2b companies is LinkedIn. It’s the only platform that allows  b2b companies to build high-quality connects which can turn into leads.

No! In fact, being on all social media platforms will hinder your growth. Pick one or two social media platforms and put 100% into building your brand presence. That’s the most effective strategy.

Yes they do. It’s easier for your audience and target market to find you on social media if all of your handles are the same.

Anything and everything! You need to keep your profile fresh and engaging. Try to share as many types of content formats as you can. Some content formats are:

  • Videos
  • Links
  • Images
  • PDFs
  • Gifs
  • Audio recordings

The amount of times you post varies depending on the social media platform. Here’s a quick rundown of the most popular:

  • Facebook – 1-2 times a day
  • LinkedIn – Once per day
  • Instagram – 2-4 times per day
  • Twitter – 10+ per day

You get more followers by giving people a reason to follow you. Focus on sharing engaging content, constantly.

Social media management is a monthly cost and the price depends on lots of different factors; the number of accounts, frequency of posting, quality of those posts, image and video development and data research. For one platform it will cost between $1,000-$3,500 with the price increasing the more platforms/accounts you require.

Paid Media Questions

Paid media is a method of digital marketing where companies can promote their content through sponsored social media posts, display ads, paid search, video ads, pop-ups, and other media. Paid media is an effective way to expand your brand’s reach, get more clicks to your website, and generate more leads.

PPC (Pay-Per-Click) is an advertising model where companies pay a fee every time someone clicks on their ad.

Here are some examples of paid media:

  • Running ads on Facebook
  • Using PPC ads on Google
  • Running display ads

There is no set price for paid ads.

It depends on so many different factors:

  • Industry
  • Results you want
  • Amount you need to spend per interaction
  • Competition
  • Size of the target market
  • And so many more!

To have an agency or freelancer manage your paid ads, their retainer could be anywhere from $2,000 to $20,000 per month depending on your budget and how experienced they are.

That depends on what your goals are and what channels you want to use. You will also need to optimise for ideal performance. For a small B2B business, having a budget of $10,000 per month for 1 or 2 channels is a good start.

Earned media is the acknowledgement you get from other people. This could be a website link, sharing your content or word-of-mouth.

Paid media is media that you have paid for to reach your target market.
